Encaustic and Sculpture

Having majored in sculpture for two years of my arts degree, using hot wax and found objects  is a natural progression and encaustic is an exciting medium used with painting processes.  After travelling to Amsterdam and on to Norway and Iceland in 2023, I began in earnest to investigate the processes for an exhibition with artist Jean Bennett  at Cooroy Butter Factory in November 2024 titled The Space in Between.

Shaping the Past sculpture
organic material, wax, tea bags, metal
73 cm H x 40cm W x 31cm D

Parts of this sculpture were gathered over a long time
period. It then came together as the ideas incubated.
Shaping the Past relates to how things that decay have
an aesthetic presence and create meaning in the world.
What lies below the surface can have as much presence
as what is in clear view.
